SPREE met up with local families at Overland Pond Park for a fun-filled Family Fishing Day. We had a smaller group than normal to keep the event safe for all of our participants and partners, and we had a fantastic time with all of our community members that attended.
With the help of Environmental Learning for Kids (ELK), families learned about fishing etiquette, fishing safety, fish anatomy, and fishing techniques. After practicing these skills, families got their very own fishing pole to use and take home, donated by the Westwood GOCO Coalition. We all spread out along the pond to fish and enjoy the beautiful day. We even got to fish alongside a cormorant, one of SPREE's favorite waterfowl! A huge thanks to ELK, GOCO, and all of our families who celebrated Family Fishing Day with us. We had a fantastic time and hope to see you by the River soon! And check out the rest of the pictures from our day here.
