PAUL & CAROL ANN ROTHMAN
Downtown Denver Children's Playground
Rationale:
Paul and Carol Ann Rothman have been both the visionaries and the laborers in the creation of the Downtown Denver Children's Playground. Located in downtown Denver just off the Cherry Creek greenway near Wewatta St. and Speer Blvd, the playground opened in 2007 and has been expanded twice since then. The Rothman's leadership was critical to acquiring the land for the project, working with the City of Denver, and coordinating fundraising for all three phases of the project. Even more impressive is the Rothmans' continued dedication to this project beyond construction; each week Paul and Carol Ann volunteer with a neighborhood group to clean and maintain the park, ensuring it's continued success. The Downtown Denver Children's Playground has become a landmark for the neighborhood, and for children all over the City. It simply wouldn't exist today without the passion of Carol Ann and Paul Rothman.

DENVER TROUT UNLIMITED
Fundraising Efforts for River Vision Implementation Plan
Rationale:
The primary fundraising objective of Denver Trout Unlimited is the restoration of the Denver South Platte River, defined as the section of the South Platte from Chatfield Reservoir north through Denver. In 2007 Denver Trout Unlimited created the South Platte Pro-Am Carp Slam as its primary vehicle for raising awareness and dollars for the improvement of the Denver South Platte. The Carp Slam is a charity tournament where 15 amateur fly fishermen are paired with 15 volunteer pro guides who support the cause.
In the eight years that Denver Trout Unlimited has hosted the Carp Slam, the event has raised nearly $100,000 for the Denver South Platte and the River Vision Implementation Plan. This fundraising has contributed to real progress along this precious stretch of river that is so vital to the City of Denver.
