Accomplishments to Date

Since 1974, The Greenway Foundation has led the effort to reclaim the South Platte River and its tributaries from a virtual cesspool to a place of environmental and recreational pride. To date, The Greenway Foundation has partnered with numerous public and private agencies, corporations, and individuals to create over $130 million of environmental, aquatic, recreational, and open space improvements along the South Platte River and tributaries throughout the Denver Metro area. The Foundation has helped to construct more than 100 miles of hiking and biking trails, created 20+ parks and natural areas, design and build numerous whitewater boat chutes, vastly improve the health of the South Platte River Watershed and its habitats, provide environmental education to more than 80,000 school children, employ more than 100 teenagers in youth employment programs, and has facilitated more than $13 billion in residential and commercial development in the Denver Metropolitan area.
